Imagine being an Extrovert with a superpower of being a Connector who has the ability to network and build relationships.
Or so you thought…
With all the abilities you have, the greatest kryponite that impacts you negatively is being ignored.
You’ve been on LinkedIn for years.
You’ve attracted thousands of followers and connected with hundreds of people.
You likely thought because people invited you to connect that they would communicate with you.
The fact is, there are times when you sent direct messages to people who invited you to connect, only to be ignored.
Just know that I can relate.
I’ve been on LinkedIn since 2007.
I’ve attracted over 13,000 followers and connected with nearly 10,000 people.
I’m likely one of the biggest extroverts in your network and in many circles, I’m known as the number one connector.
There are times I sent messages to people in my network and they ignored me.
I have my LinkedIn settings set up so I can see a person has read my message. And it becomes disheartening when people don’t offer a response to my message.
It hurts, I know.
It’s discouraging, I know.
You may be ready to give up on LinkedIn or give up on networking.
Well, I want to encourage you to hold on.
Here are 5 solutions to prevent being ignored by your LinkedIn network:
1. Vet your LinkedIn invitations carefully.
2. Ask your LinkedIn connections if LinkedIn is their main platform to communicate or is there a better platform for communication?
3. Ask your LinkedIn connections what they are looking to accomplish from connecting
4. Keep your direct messages short.
5. Don’t lead with a sales pitch
I’ll break these 5 ideas down further in the next post, but until then start with understanding this…
Don’t take it personal. What you think might be someone ignoring you may be something else and we’ll talk about that in the NEXT POST.
Remain Encouraged…
